Iceland raises volcano warning level after latest eruption | World news | theguardian.com

"Icelandic authorities have raised their warning level over the risk from ash to aviation to the highest level of red after the latest eruption in an ice-free area of the Bardarbunga volcano system. Iceland's largest volcanic system, which cuts a 118-mile by 15.5-mile swath across the North Atlantic island, has been hit by thousands of earthquakes over the past two weeks and scientists have been on high alert."
