Supreme Court upholds entire US health care law
This is great news and means America is regaining its sanity.
Interesting take on legislation that helps people look after themselves like asking people who drive a car to pay for car insurance. If you live and breath, you must take out health insurance.

Pricing Sunsets
John Robson writing for the London Free Press, a city not more than fifty miles from the world's most amazing sunsets over Lake Huron is seemingly against the government pricing sunsets. I'm sorry if I don't see his logic!
Canada needs to value and price its sunsets.
Perhaps, John needs to see a sunset over lake Huron and appreciate its value. There is a cost to viewing beautiful sunsets. Its just that John has no clue really on how an indicator can be constructed on how to price them.
Nothing is free John! Everything we do has a consequence and the value of Canadian sunsets are why many Canadians choose to live in Canada where they can see the sunsets.
I am so sorry a sunset's value cannot be priced, at least by John, who I would guess or dare say is probably not a competent statistician, but who am I to say!
I can think of many reasons to have statistics on the cost of viewing sunsets. Let the cost of viewing beatiful sunsets and their contribution to the Canadian economy not go unmeasured, I say!

May's indicators
John!
Your comments suggest you don't have a clue about the role statistical methods can play in supporting community wellness.
Vitamin D from sun and sunsets are much better for your health than the acid rain around Sudbury that falls all over Ontario and kills our streams and fishes but indirectly feeds our flies as they feed on what remains.
Bye,
Arthur

Taking a pass on May's new measurement | Comment | London Free Press
I think May's idea is pretty important! Shame there are no competent Canadian economists to convey her ideas better. I include myself. Shame! Instead we continue to get nonsense comments from forgetable writers about Keynes by people who probably have never understood the general theory let alone read it!

Why Microsoft's Surface Tablet Shames the PC Industry - Businessweek
It's about time! The PC industry has limped along like so many injured fat cats with boring stupifying products. The microsoft tablet event should have happened five years ago, but it was easier for the PC industry to sit on it's hands for years while Apple grew and grew! Oh, where has the dynamism gone?

BBC News - 'Systematic dishonesty' at Barclays, says former boss
Barclays is probably just the tip of a very large iceberg. Has organized crime moved into the major banks? Hopefully, criminal investigations will lead to a string of procescutions and loads of dishonest people will go to jail! The deterioration arises with liberalization of the banking sectors around the world. Give people too much power and they WILL be corrupted. It's time a new international procsecution process was created and enforcement stepped up.

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth.
