Too Big to Fail, or Too Trifling for Oversight? - NYTimes.com

Invisible to authorities or outside of regulatory mechanisms. Or, too complex to regulate adequately.

Do you eat food? If so please help, it may help to save or extend your life or that of a loved one! At the very least, you will make many people safer!

Existing food allergen labels in restaurants and on commercial foods are too frequently an insult to allergy suffers. Labelling needed to be aware of allergens in food being sold is horrendously inadequate, missing, almost invisible or unreadable.

We all need the best international standards and rules about providing information about what allergens you are being sold in food. Like smoke from cigarettes, allergens are potential killers! Protect your kids by awareness and by information rules.

Are you interested in a simple way to better health for yourself and many known food allergen sufferers!

Many people do not realise that they themselves reduce their own life expectancy with every bite into a food that contains a hidden allergen. Your blood type may make you very prone to food allergen issues that will impact you in later life even if you do not show any issues now.

We need to request better and clearer food labelling.

We need to educate food providing people into the allergen risks they are exposing others to. This includes mothers, fathers, you, food workers, meals on wheels, pet owners!

Allergens lurk within seemingly harmless foods. These allergens are a major stumbling block to leading a normal life, but clearly better labelling would reduce occurrence of disease episodes.

New and better international standards for food labelling need to be created.

Severe punishment in terms of legal liability for mislabelling or inadequate labelling in commercial sales, such as in food shops, restaurants, should be addressed.

Sellers of food should be required to know what they are selling and be trained in food borne allergen sciences.

Awareness of allergens in food and what they do against your health needs greater emphasis.

Allergies are often a blessing in disguise if you have sufficient information to protect yourself.

Sales and distribution of any food without adequate allergen labelling should be forbidden!

We should promote high labelling standards throughout the world community for everything people are consuming.

Should the IMF MD Age Limit be Modified?

I have no personal support for the idea that at age 65 you are too old to do economics as well as at age 64. I do not think 66 is any worse than 65, nor 67 any worse than 66.

The problem is that your life expectancy at 65, the year most leave work, is close to one year! That is if you work up to that time. Or, so I was told by an American actuarial scientist.

The age limit for the IMF MD role is interesting, but perhaps, it is better to think in terms of a medical that measures a candidate's 'real' age. It's true that some at 65 live on to be 94. My dad did! And, he was not senile until his last year.

Now, Charles De Gaulle lived on and on and on, but he was quite insane when he said 'Vive le Quebec libre'. Or was he?

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth. ... more!
