Quantifying Sea Level Fall | Watts Up With That?

Struggling with science is healthy. What we see is the difficulty of squaring the range and scale of influences. Governments make policy based on science, but what may seem good logic may fall apart owing to forces not included in the analysis. In other words, policy or belief may be incorrect over the long term because the analysis is partial and suddenly reversible, as in the sand pile effect. We often can't see around a corner until we create an instrument that allows us to see artificially what is actually hidden from view! A problem science has to deal with all the time, yes all the time!

Global cooling coming? Archibald uses solar and surface data to predict 4.9°C fall (!) « JoNova: Science, carbon, climate and tax

The jury is out as to the long term implications of rising cO2 on the climate. We are certainly experiencing global warming, especially now!? What still needs to be understood is what is causing the warming .. trends and cycles of sun spots, changes magnetic fields on the sun, or composition of gases on earth and the green house effect?

Mike Flynn's Journal - Sufficient Causes

Necessary but insufficient yet to establish global warming? The world is in real serious trouble if the sharply rising curve actually happens and global warming is real! How do you separate the CO 2 factor?

Articles: Could Forrest Gump Plan Our Economy?

Scott Mayer is flying high in his critique of Krugman. However, in his analysis he makes a basic flaw. The flaw is that the free market has the answers. It may if you were to assume it repatriated profit back to th US and then distributed a reasonable amount as dividend. Being a good citizen is not th free market which has no citizenship priorities. In fact, the free market is actively involved in destroying the environment never thinking it should pay damages! Mayer is so of he mark on this as to be morally bankrupt!

Note to Krugman: Greece Proves Keynesian Economics Wrong - Forbes

Spending more to get the Greece economy moving is the only policy that will work, but why does it not work. Balance is the key. It's possible to introduce balance by spending but both raising interest rates and taxes on specific activities. The problem Greece has is debt with low interest rates. Borrowing got Greece into a mess, but was it a domestic problem or an international one? Gregory talks one way and Krugman another. The question is really Greece's openness and who is taking or sending money out of the country. Is it a domestic issue or an international one? Overinvestment by foreign interests in dubious acquisition projects often masks real domestic issues.

Spotlight on Iran

War with Iran is not an option!

It would not be prudent nor viable.

So stalemate will cotninue into the long term like Cuba until nations forget the rhetoric and realize the war mongering words of Iranian leaders against Isreal is primarily for domestic consumption.

No sane Iranian could really want war, but most are caught in the iranian political process where such extreme talk is popular!

CERN fires most powerful beams yet | ZDNet UK

Finding and verifying the Higgs particle would mean a major leap forward for string theory . It would give greater credence to ideas positing additional dimensions. The higher mathematics of cosmology needs such fields. The assumptions of infinities being resolved as additional dimensions will allow physics to simplify the mathematics of cosmology and string theory.

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth. ... more!
