The problem is that secrecy is a symptom of addictive processes! Could it be that secrecy about spying on citizens is the worse crime. Both betray a destructive intent without oversight.
In reality, the public cannot see its way to condemn someone who reveals criminal activity of governments whether they are cloaked in justification or not.
We see the secrecy of government as a sin in a world crying for honesty and openness. It is not enough to say the terrorists exist when the government is incapable of distinguishing honesty from lies because everyone is treated as a potential criminal.
