Why Canada needs to think of its children and natural gifts before running away with premature and bumkum wireless assumptions

Interesting letter! Nothing will change perhaps until the present Conservative government is fired by the Canadian people for incompetence and cronyism. So many people to be fired ....

This recent correspondence (late July 2014) is now posted at C4ST.org website:

---------------
The below letter was sent by Oakville Member of Parliament Terence Young in late July in response to a concerned constituent, in regards to the pending review of Safety Code 6.
MP Young has given permission for it to be shared publically.

Dear XXX,

Thank you for your e-mail concerning Safety Code 6. It is important that I hear the concerns of constituents so that I may better represent you in Ottawa.

As you know, Safety Code 6 (SC6), also referred to as "Limits of Human Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Energy in the Frequency Range from 3 kHz to 300 GHz", is a Health Canada guideline which sets limits for safe human exposure to radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic fields (EMF).

Health Canada scientists monitor the scientific literature on an ongoing basis and SC6 is periodically updated to take into account recent scientific data from studies carried out worldwide. The Department recognized the significant stakeholder interest in RF safety. Interested parties were encouraged to provide comments and suggestions of a scientific nature on the proposed revisions to SC6 by July 15, 2014.

On July 9, 2014, Canadians for Safe Technology (C4ST), based in Oakville, held a public consultation of their own in Ottawa which attracted over 100 people in person and by Skype from across Canada to discuss SC6. I attended this meeting myself.

Here is some of the evidence presented that day:

- Over 50 international scientists who do research in the field of wireless radiation signed a
declaration stating that Canada's SC6 Guideline is fundamentally flawed;

- A review that identifies 140 studies that show harm at levels significantly below SC6 that have not been reviewed by Health Canada in its recent update; 104 (74%) of these publications were submitted to Health Canada in 2013 and ignored by staff (They have been resubmitted);

- Over 40 Canadian physicians signed a submission calling for Health Canada to assist Canadian physicians in becoming apprised of microwave exposure and related health problems that may be associated with over-exposure or sensitivity.
-

This evidence and more have gone to Health Canada for their consideration on SC6.

I am working behind the scenes to help ensure that SC6 is revised and brought up to a world
standard. As well, I have been working for some time on a Private Members Bill that will help raise awareness of the risks of cell phones among Canadians and you will be hearing more about this in the near future.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write to me.

Sincerely,

Terence Young
MP for Oakville

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth. ... more!
