Would, or can you, trust the secret police?

Under Mubarak or associated with Mubarak are people loath to relinquish to the Egyptian people, especially ones they have fears about, those very treasured security powers they have abused for decades, and to do this voluntarily?

It's a question of ownership and addiction to process. Powerful people will lie, cheat and do all sorts of things dispicable to retain their ownership of power that gives them their daily fix of control.
