Nick Clegg warns the banks there was a ‘strong case’ to break them up. | The Sun |News

Clegg is quite right of course. The problem is that management of the banks has been abysmal despite protests. The banks that need shaking up however are not so much the British as the colony of American banks that force competition of domestic into areas of higher and higher risk. Ban American banks around the world and solve your problems! Well, no, but it makes you wonder why competition between banks is so destructive in times of easy money.

The reason that banks would not lend to each other was because they realised the ethics of banking were at an all time low and trust was almost completely gone. Banking relies on trust and the American banks are not particularly trust worthy as the wikileaks will probably should over themnext few months. American banks selling UK andother European banks dubious assets was a foul act that needs accountability.

Greed was there as well as the pressure of competition and imitation. Copy cat banking! That's it copy cat competitivemresponse is at the root of bad banking practices importing lethal methodologies and behaviours from America.
