Dear sir!
I am so pleased to read that there are no real risks and that Mr. Kardel has evidence of this. Please let me know whether Mr. Kardel can provide us with such evidence! I am also relieved to read smart meters only switch on / are activated only briefly to send data information. I was worried that they might be on all the time? I guess Mr. Kardel is really well informed!
Please, if you don't mind, I would like to scratch at the surface of this important issue!
Sincerely,
Arthur Lake
There seems to be a trend these days that facts and common sense are not relevant, but rather one can make a point by rhetoric, selective exaggeration and community organizing.
The anti smart meter lobby would have us believe that there is a worldwide government and business conspiracy to bring an invisible deadly plague into our homes. Indeed, Jerry Flynn, a retired military officer, who ironically admits that he has ". . . always questioned authority . . ." submits we should "distrust'" BC Hydro.
Power companies around the world have for years been installing millions of smart meters.
There are hundreds of thousands of power company employees with families who have a smart meter at their homes.
It is hard to see the motivation these employees would have in this conspiracy.
There have been countless public hearings, testing, agency approvals and technical reviews of these meters. There is no reason not to believe the test results, which consistently indicate levels of radio frequency energy lower than virtually all other energy emitting devices we use, including baby monitors, cell phones, microwave ovens and WiFi.
Furthermore, the smart meter is activated for only very short times to transfer meter data and is typically a considerable distance from home occupants which quickly reduces energy levels.
Many people are skeptical of complex technology and potential harmful side effects.
However, this should not translate to an emotional reaction of distrusting 'authority' and postulating conspiracy theories. There are many exceptional technical people around the world who understand the design of the complex devices we all use and ensure that they are safe and adhere to carefully established standards.
