The problem with industry that buys political influence and decisions.
If money talks it also corrupts and buys scientists to ignore serious forms of pollutant, like Canada exporting the worst forms of asbestos disregarding public opinion and common sense. In the 21 century Government needs to lead rather than follow industry. The world is too complex for private industry to be given free reign in choosing to do anything it wants so long as it has politicians in the pocket. While Green Peace sees Canadians locked in Russia cells, we witness Baha'i persecution in Iran and government's feigning peace while waging war.
We can see how modern large scale industry pays for its privileges especially in the area of telecommunications, mining and energy projects which are building into some of the worst scandals to hit North America in decades. As people become more aware of the loss of freedoms, there will be a sharp change in the tone of political debate. Will we have battles in the streets as in the Middle East?
Having a government departments dictate location of cellular towers and commercial energy centres is like allowing the independent development of armies of brownshirts during the Nazification of Germany. It does not go unnoticed, this scandalous breach of human rights and civil liberties. There is no excuse for health, security or any other reason.
It is industrial cronyism, pure and simple. In Germany the industrial giants sponsored the brown shirts. Is that what we can expect in North America? Where does the loss of democracy end? Abuse of parliament and disrespect for constitutional rights? Why is there no real press freedom in Canada? Why is Canadian TV news the most boring in the planet?

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth.
