Poetry for midlife! Why poetry?

What is it about poetry that gives meaning. Is it the words or is it the bridge between words and rhythm? Poetry goes beyond prose to imbed mathematical and auditory cues to words giving it a three or multi-dimensional quality. Poetry I like paintings or photos with depth of field.
