Thoughts over Coffee at a Visit to the London Book Fair - Day two

Well, the nature and scope of publishing has changed dramatically over the last half decade. The number of stalls has increased and there is a notable shift towards electronic media and computer graphics. Surprisingly, the range of traditional books has not diminished. If anything, there has been a enormous expansion.

As the services side of the economy becomes the way to employment, albeit risky, the reliance on the printed word for work seems a reasonable option. The ability to write is increasingly important for job seeker's in Western economies.

When the American economy collapses later in 2011, we will see! Did I write collapse? Is that too strong, or does it explain why President Obama allowed France to take the initiative in Libya?

What I should have said is that Mr Soros and I find the present state of the large economies more baffling than in 2008. The reforms needed have not yet started to bite, but the fear is there. Witness the extraordinarily high price for that useless metal gold, not to mention silver!

Time to get up and talk to people about graphic novels.

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth. ... more!
