Northern Lights: Our pick of the pictures of the Aurora Borealis - mirror.co.uk

With the big sun flares there are Northern Lights, but the curious thing is that the sun is only a contributor to the light show since the sun's biggest flares blow away the earth's protective shield and let's in those harmful cosmic rays which are so beautiful when interacting with particles on earth.

Thus, the light show beauty is often due to the effects of powerful particles flung from huge galaxies and stars other than the sun showering their potent energy high above us as they break through the earth's protective shield and shatter. It is no coincidence that when the sun is most active we are at greatest risk, but from the suns rays or the powerful cosmic particles from our galaxy and other galaxies racing through our solar system.

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth. ... more!
