By not investing in the future one can solve loads of inconvenient short term problems which is what Krugman seems to imply the Republicans are inclined to do. It's seems strange that a party that is oriented around land and capital wants to invest less in it for the long term as a nation. The problem with the political roles in America is that they have been reversed with Republicans focusing on today and the Democrats on the future, yet the rhetoric comes across the other way round. Very confusing! The pressure from outside America will always be that the country needs to get it's economics right. Health and education should rightly come first because they really do enable growth and gear the nation for the long term. Other things like defence seem to solve themselves what ever happens through fear.

Whatever your beliefs, there is no end to motion, just evolution and unrelenting change, seen or unseen. Energy is motion both in reality and calculation. Take time to rest even though all inside you is always moving. Your massive relative pause gives opportunity for other smaller streams to catch up. Take time to meditate so that you can see with your mind what lies within and beyond.
