Innocents are dead and the Russian Media Point to Moscow Airport Attack in U.S. Video Game - NYTimes.com

If you have doubted that mentally unstable people are being unfavourably influenced by media to carry out acts that are the senseless destruction of human life then you may live with blinkers on.

In the space of several weeks, we have seen how unstable people can and really are led to carry out unspeakable acts against their fellow friends and loving people. The hate created by irresponsible commentary and acceptance of extreme views places those responsible in a new light.

Who needs to think more about their influence: moguls, gamers, politicians, or bloggers? How much can an unstable mind absorb before moving into action? Is it a matter of voluntary censorship or development of social ethics?

We know that development of realistic video and powerful semi automatic handguns is speeded up by military interests keen to get an advantage.

Are we seeing the spillover effects of a militaristic style of living in America? The uncomfortable question needs to be asked in a community where social tolerance was gaining ground, but
where now it is being replaced by something we should all be worried about. Don't look to political leaders like Sarah Palin for guidance in this because many seem to move with blinkers on, perhaps numbed by their own acceptance of violence as a way of living, or part of their social vision! Do you sleep with a gun in your room? Do you regularly play violent video games? Do you watch a lot of violence on TV. Are you numb to the suffering of others?

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth. ... more!
