Where is cellular technology and WIFI going?

You tell me!

With the advent of the iPad and it's me-too followers using me-too operating systems and me-too retail technologies, we see Apple leading the way. That's not surprising given that it takes several generations to get a technology economy on the move. Well, we are abbot to see loft off.

When I am highly emotional, I come out with profound comments such as solid state technologies will take over and revolutionize the electronics industry once more. My approach is always very long term and my analysis focuses on the core of technologies which were the subject matter of my university readings many decades ago.

I was greatly disappointed by Microsoft's pathetic efforts over the past thirty years even though they came to spawn and dominate the industry and leave IBM in the dust. Will Apple also disappoint. I think not given what I know about the philosophy of the company and it's depth of understanding about where people and user groups are driving the industry.

Our world is dominated by the fear of terrorism, which like the need to spend money on defense is very harmful to consumer product development over the longer term. Sure technology companies will design products to fight terrorism, but much of what we could see will be deferred until more secure times.

Obviously, we are witnessing a volume upscaling of information exchange though rather belatedly as we allow consumers to be suckered into buying obsolete technologies. That's ok, since there is a need to pace technology innovation and development in order to string out employment opportunity over time. Going slower helps give slower communities jobs. By obsolete, I would include the plethora of USB 2 technologies currently finding sales.

We are just not geared up to the notion of USB 3 and it's multiplicative effect on information exchange volumes. More information to hide terrorist messages being exchanged and reason enough to slow down the pace of technology revolution somewhat so that security agencies can catch up. We don't want to move too fast.

That raises the question, however, that we may be playing into a economic game in which size of firm and end market really does matter, but speed of development and spawning rates for new divisions matters even more. Why pick all the winners when you can play hopscotch? That's the Japanese business expansion strategy of yore which seems not so much in evidence now, but which is probably very much in effect. Don't try to do all the technologies. Just pick those that you know will produce economies of scale. Get in there early by all means, but recognize that rate of obsolescence is accelerating.

So we see the French trying to sell USB 3 devices in Paris while me-tooers elsewhere are not in evidence. So how is this an opportunity for the next generation of Apply light weigh fully incoblock products. Put a terabyte memory into a device instead of gigabyte and ram up production to grab the deflation opportunities in the market and what have you. You have a new WIFI demand making existing devices operating on 3G and USB 2 very much obsolete. So watch memory get rammed up several more notches to takes right into the video age. There is so much to do!

Will not time reveal the lasting importance of friends and mutual respect? Be kind to those who think well of you and those you know and try to add positive elements to your world. Promote peace in your heart and sunshine in the minds of those around you by your own good works. Elevate the level of discussion by thinking less of the issues and more of how you can reduce the tension of stress that arises with honest disagreement. Relax by breathing more deeply and consciously.

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth. ... more!
