Harmony and The Prince of Wales - a new way of looking at the world?

Prince Charles book entitled 'Harmony' stared at me in the local London Chapters bookstore. My memories of Charles come from a response I made to an English journalist who accused Charles of being a lessor person than Pope John, saying that Charles had not accomplished anything comparable to the Pope in his sorry life. My reaction was that I felt she was creating a little stir for self promotion. No! Charles contributions to humanity will never match those of the Popes, but my guess is that he is doing is less damage just the same.

Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales is the son of Queen Elizabeth and a protege of Lord Mountbatton, the eminent wartime leader. The Prince was divorced from Princess Diane, who was a spectacular human being comparable to Princess Elizabeth in the time of King James I. This Princess Elizabeth should not be confused with Queen Elizabeth I, and it is significant to me that she lived at the time of James I. In the UK, the enthusiasm and support for lovely promising princesses is truly remarkable, so when Princess Di passed, it was traumatic affecting all and sundry in a negative way, whether they liked Princess Di or not. Prince Charles was a target of anger not the least cause of which was that the death of Princess Di formed a dangling loose end, out of harmony with everyone's ideals.

When Charles married Camila, his mistress of many years and his true love, we all wanted to be in another history book in which such an event did not take place. But, we would be wrong, for the marriage did close off one dangling end, which was Prince Charles being with someone he did nit love and very alone. For my part, I loved the Prince as an ideal of good cheer, fun, and harmony. To me he was never an ogre or someone to think bad of. My views are not shared, but there they are! People experience harmony and discord in many different ways.

I, am not much different from many when I like to think in ideals. In an ideal world, the marriage of Princess Di and Charles would have succeeded and She would be alive today. That would be such harmony. Thus, when Prince Charles comes out with a book with the heading of harmony, a new way of looking at the world, I am slightly ill at ease. It's not that I am puzzled because I do regard Charles as a person in search of harmony, and as such I am enormously respectful of him and truly joyful that he has this bent in personality. I don't like or dislike him because he is so far removed from my world. He belongs to a fairyland of people that I could never believe myself associated. They are fascinating to me and form a pastiche of colour to what otherwise is a pretty dull world. Yes! The Royal Family and it's personages are an amazing addition to our lives and we would be all the poorer without them despite the notion that they are sustained at some cost to many of us. That I don't believe. For me the cost is significantly lower than the benefit that I receive in terms of it allowing me to forget the horror of the alternative which in our reality was a dictatorship under Hitler, or some such madman, or a system of government possessed by the Solviet Bloc of yesteryear.

My Queen Elizabeth apparently spoke of King James I with great respect and she did mention that he made a lasting contribution to English society through the effort of translating the Bible. This hits a soft spot for me because in the margins of the translation are the hand writing of someone who bears my name. I once came across it in Wells Cathedral, but I leave that to you as a puzzle if you are so inclined.

My reason for discussing Prince Charles and his harmony book are because his ideas are very similar to my own. I am currently playing an iPad game in which the object is to create a matrix of zen like harmony out of a maze of pieces that have different lines within the matrix. Harmony exists when all the loose ends are joined and thus eliminated. In zen harmony, there are no loose ends, or so it is assumed in the game. In my view, such a games very much like life in harmony, but the only problem is that we see total disharmony because our lives are not joined when we die. We are as it were dangling ends. Or, so it seems, but I believe otherwise. Do you?

Unfortunate Redwing Blackbirds die in Massive Event Over Arkansas

What killed the Redwing blackbirds over Beebe, Arkansas? That is a mystery puzzling officials, scientists and the public in America and around the globe. Some fear a repetition and urge investigation in order that the cause or causes may be found.

The number of birds killed at one time is staggering. Some estimate as many as 5,000 in a three hour period. This means that many explanations can be eliminated because they are not plausible for such a large number of bird deaths in such a short period. There are suggestions of a common trauma event.

It's not unusual for birds to fly in huge flocks and it's plausible that they all flew within an airspace in which a natural event caught the birds suddenly in flight. Possibilities are temperature or electrical events, but the culprit would vanish as quickly as it appeared, so even though a storm situation is suspect, there is not firm evidence as yet. It may be possible to determine whether the event was hot or cold.

My own guess is that it was a cold event and may be associated with wind.

What do you think after reading the press?

The Price of your Water and Planning for Grand Bend an Important Place within Lambton Shores - A Pointer =>

Residents of Grand Bend are affected by a planning process that projects the price of local water used in homes.

The following is written in a way that is suited for accountants, but for ordinary readers there are things to be learned by trying to understand how the price of water is arrived at and whether you agree that the essentials that are included in the plan.  The accounting may seem like mumbo jumbo and the legal stuff is all like a library book you never want to have on your bedside table!

Review the diagrams and following tables and then create a little table for yourself based on the projected prices and your own usage in the past.  Combine the two sets of numbers to get figure of your own to see whether you can afford the inflation built into the prices of water used in the plan.  If the majority of people find that the cost of water as a share of their nominal income rises too rapidly that is a problem.  What do you find?

Only rarely do you see such a well written article with so many clued in concepts as this article in Seed Magazine pointed to below.  I heartily recommend that you read it and if you don't understand it use a dictionary.  You will save yourself many a heart ache by understanding first principles of the real world!

The real world is non-linear and so the old linear math of economics classes have to be re-written into non-linear expositions and contain many more real world exposures.  Understand what randomness is all about.  Realize that a fourth dimension, or possibly more, invade(s) our three dimensional world and that/those dimension(s) obeys(s) mathematics that is non-linear.  Think fractals!

AL GORE on global warming - The One Conservatives Love to Dispute - Why?

There is not much intelligent people do not miss.

This guy Al Gore is a failure because he did not become President of the United States. He had his chance and he failed. The logic can even go on to the thing with the voting machines and the Supreme Court proved Al was trying to cheat us. The Supreme Court showed us Al is a cheater because he lost and tried to take the presidency away from Geoge Bush. What a loser! He is not one of us and is pretty well off without our daily struggle for existence.

Is that why we can dispute him?

I like the 'stupid' (Yes! I used a bad word) excuse that Al has a hidden agenda. To some there is credence given to the idea that he is lining his pockets and making life more difficult for us by being a pain in the but. Look at all the money he is making from his book, which is capitalizing on scaremongering. Don't you see that? They insist.

In this world you can be your brothers keeper and there is nothing wrong with that either in liberalism, conservatism, communism, pluralism, democracy, fundamentalism! You should look after the interests of your neighbors as well as yourself. If you see a fire in the distance it is appropriate to say something about it, loud and clear!

So some people see the Gore message on the environment as an exaggeration to bolster Al Gore's ego and income. He, they say, has dangerous liberal ideas, and liberal you know must not get confused with Fundamental.

Is Al 'Fundamentally' wrong? Not in my book. He is in my book fundamentally right. He may use shocking facts to stir your thoughts, but that's what my mum and dad did to protect me. No, he's not your image of a father, and that's the point. Al comes across as a Dad telling us off. He is a prophet of the modern age. A Moses that builds an arc that we don't see as necessary?

Having earned a degree in political science from A first rate university, I am sure Al Gore's politics are biased towards the middle income population irrespective of religion, fundamentalism, and whatever? So what is the problem with Al?

Is he too stiff? Bush seemed stiffer in many respects. Did he propose wrong headed ideas? Bush was asleep at the helm for years, which is much worse?

Would Al not have made a good president? Where would America be had Al been President? Perhaps, just perhaps, we would have avoided the mess America has experienced under the leadership of George.

Who really won the election in Florida. Just ask yourself and ponder the consequences. Review the history and reexamine whether Al might not have become the better President, had he the chance.

The Next Cities To Hit New Lows For Housing: New York, Detroit, Chicago

http://www.businessinsider.com/the-next-cities-to-hit-new-lows-for-housing-new-york-detroit-chicago-2010-12

What is life all about? Words in the Preamble to my Personal Journey...

In life there are a lot of things to work through. We are brought into the world as sentient and aware creations of a vast unknown that has us challenged from beginning to end. We are given no real rest just periods of quiet in which we can ponder for a while all the many mysteries and evidence we have before us.

Most of our life is spent in ignorance and we struggle to break into a realm of knowing using whatever tools are available to us and following each and every fad that crosses our path enough times to catch our attention. We are dismally aware of our inability to move beyond our feeble capabilities and acquire whatever means is around to repackage our ideas in better and better packages.

Our zen for understanding is to tie off all the loose endings so that we may glimpse optimistic signs of our potential immortality of which we are inherently uncertain, but manage to doubt. We doubt more our mortality than our immortality as we age.

The older we get the more we sense our immortal strings, those fine energies that tie us to an invisible monster that is our full existence. Rather than accepting our time as a single stretch, we increasingly place ourselves in imaginary realms to conjure what it will be like rather than what it could be like.

Not having a clue, we are constantly struggling to join ourselves with others who might make sense, but realize that we are eternally alone in what we can be certain and eternally joined in what seems tom us to be impossible and frivolous speculation.

Can you guess why The Windows-ARM Rumors Make Little Sense?

Microsoft thinks like a software house and publisher creating inputs for others to use. This spawns variety and has been a basis of the Windows success story. What the company needs now is a highly portable touch or movement OS that challenges everything out there and is purely Microsoft. Such an OS needs to excite developers writing server based software.

In short, the company needs to have a strong independent division that is innovative in hardware and software and unattached to it's older more democratic independent operator roots. This is a battle for survival based on server processed software and Microsoft needs to see a revolution has happened that was long overdue and that it did not initiate! The old Microsoft world has to reform to be hybrid in nature, but that will squeeze the central player into the shadows unless it has an OS that competes as a small self contained independent system, highly adaptable and can run on independent servers. Very difficult in a security minded world.

Perhaps, embedding systems dynamically is the answer with access by the distributing center that keeps the operating code clean and upgrades continuously over time to allow diversification in hardware and software applications. Can Windows be so reformed?

The Internet User's Best Kept Secret

Sketches from scratches is a provocative blogspot that has grown out of the Wuh Lax experience. It is eclectic, which means that it might consider just about anything from the simple to the extremely difficult. A scratch can be something that is troubling me or a short line on paper. From a scratch comes a verbal sketch or image sketch of the issue or subject. Other sites have other stuff that should really be of interest to the broad reader. I try to develop themes, but variety often comes before depth. ... more!
