Russians Rage Against America | New York Observer

Canadians have a fear of America, but we know that the Yankee Doodles are really very nice people being manipulated by oligarchs in the same way the very nice people of Russia are being manipulated by oligarchs. The question for both is to what degree and how soon can /will the oligarchs be shown the door. One is reminded in Russian history of what happened to the Kulaks with the rise of Lenin.

We might all agree that Obama is too polite to all the oligarchs that actively contrive and execute pollution policies and socially derisive policies and programs.

Where is the average person in all this? Just a pawn or eventually a rook?

Russia’s Richest Man Brings Key Assets Back to Russia: Reports / Sputnik International

Russia's telecom and iron profits return to Russia.  Good move after Russian devaluation of almost fifty percent. Only can go up in value? How to double your personal wealth in days. I guess its time for Putin to do the same. Perhaps that has been the point of it all anyways? You place your money outside offshore, then create a ruckus inside the country to get devaluation, then buy double what's inside the country while in a good position to raise relative values once more by behaving. As oil prices rise and the rubble strengthens you  once again invest offshore. Then you attack the Ukraine once more. After doing this a few times you own 95 percent of Russia?

The $6.5m canyon: it's the most expensive photograph ever – but it's like a hackneyed poster in a posh hotel | Art and design | The Guardian

Maybe the author of this Guardian piece might realize that the price people pay for an image has less to do with the notion of objective artistic quality and more to do with misunderstood forces that shape motivation and the real world of psychology, sociology and economics. Probably, the purchaser was a drug lord monetizing and legitimizing a laundering operation. As an outlier, the price of the photo is a forgery hiding another reality. That is not to say beauty cannot be made iconic by purchasing an ordinary photo for millions. Someone has started the contest and ended it in one operation to deceive bureaucrats that think value is always a realized price, yet fail to see the transaction as a slight of hand intended to hide real purposes and values unaccounted for in the imagination of the government official. Such rule breaking leads to absurdities in a modern world where normal events bear little relationship to realities hidden below the surface.
