Paul Krugman Advised Fed To Create A Housing Bubble In 2002

If he did, it was stupid advice! Hardly credible given Bush at the helm.. And very very doctrinaire to a fault, so I will reserve judgment!

Economies almost toppled by Excel error in Reinhart-Rogoff paper | Opinion | The Seattle Times

Rubbish in rubbish out, and rubbish along the way!

Krugman has his moment, but nothing challenges the Fed policy of self sustained cronyism and subsidies for the filthy rich!

Poor marks all round, I'd say!

The consequences of dodgy data in economic analysis

Oops! Another analytical mistake by misguided enthusiats to muddy the waters of economic thought!

Takes an awful lot to get economics correct. It is after all an art not an exact science, as some would have you believe. good economics somewhat like gardening! Knowing what will grow where, when, and why is part of the analytical process.

Don't you love this bantering between right and left wing economists, as if either side really knew! Rogoff and Rheinhart's analysis is neither fully wrong nor right, but it was incomplete and someon found mathematical issues, which is not surprising in a social art. So now a better image of what to do can be had? NOT!

Attack ads on Justin Trudeau a huge success, Conservative party strategist says

Money wasted by the conservative attack machine! Why not just tell the truth that the conservative leader is losing support because of arbitrary leadership that Canadans don't feel they want to tolerate much longer? Best to be honest and do an about face on stupid policies that have damaged Canada's internation image of good sense and made it seem like that of an ill informed yesteryear American wild west side show!

Canada can do better than Mr Harper and cronies!

Justin Trudeau in His Father’s Footsteps, Only More Uphill - NYTimes.com

What's important is that he has absorbed much of his dad's attitudes on the role of Canadians in the world and the importance of respecting the many honest contributions from Quebec in strengthening Canada's value systems!

Putting a Silk Hat on a Sow – NDP Resorts to Spin and Lies to Cover True Intentions

The quality of this free press article is pretty low tending to the absurd. Where did these strange and ill fitting Yankee Doodle ideas come from? They seem very out of place in 'conservative' Canada whichever way you slice and dice it! Yankee ideas go home?

The Scandal that's Discrediting All Conservative Economists

This is like The Lord Kaldor analytical scandal of the 1960s when the professor was selective to prove his thesis about productivity in rapidly growing economies, i.e. Verdoorn's Law. If one took Japan out of the data set the equations were insignificant as Prof. Bob Rowland was keen to point out.

Econometric analysis that is cross sectional is always fraught with risk that the numbers of outliers will distort a thesis. Eg Japan in a world of low performers.

Many economists were refused PhDs because they included evidence that did not actively support a theory within a thesis. I had that very issue myself, but my honesty prevailed. It was just as important to show the theory was not generalizable. In this way we see that apart from accounting models, generalisations of economic laws fall apart across countries and across time. Tell that to Lord Jevons and his economic cycles arising from sunspot cycles!

Sad to see research that is discredited as a generalisation, but the fact remains that there are very few generalisations that can be made in economics apart from the famous consumption function of Lord Keynes that has stood the test of time in industrial economies. Apply that model to developing economies and the laws fall apart. Horace's for courses!

Don't generalise, just research!
