Clint Eastwood’s Daughter Gets Death Threats, Articles | THISDAY LIVE

Eastwood name!

Rich items are filthy to the poor and an affront to poverty, like Marie Antoinnette offering cake to starving peasants.

What is the message in destroying a valuable sought after item? It's that the item is not really so valuable and that it is an affront to humanity and other values. On the other hand, the mix of valuable and worthless objects is wrong. Too few objects are really worthwhile and even though valuable objects exist, they should not be used to emphasize the gap between rich and poor. Conspicuous consumption is not such a good idea in a world where democratic values are supported.

Eastwood is making a political as well as economic statement in the destruction of an object of desire. That process may be deemed as artistic, but then so is violence. We abhor violence and we abhor waste!

People question publicity stunt! Good or bad news it does not matter as long as the image and you are associated within millions of minds. Art is memory and association!

Facebook Is Building The Facebook Phone Right In Front Of Our Eyes - Business Insider

This process has to remind one of what occured with new office applications running under Microsoft. Unless Facebook has the core technologies completely licensed up, it exposes itself to future vulnerability and innovation from a newcomer!

Gary Shilling On Manufacturing Renaissance - Business Insider

Manufacturing is not going to generate jobs, but services would. The construction industry would generate jobs, but it would be better if quality services were embodied within it and that it grewcat a pace that did not generate house price inflation expectations. More quality housing at a slower growth pace embodying more local resources and people doing high skilled contributions, in other words, we should upscale the quality of local services and design better materials and constructs. Put in more local value added by building better homes to last and last within better design communities!

McGuinty calls on Ottawa to help him open up the North - The Globe and Mail

Pity Canada can't do a better job itself without exporting all those gems, gold, and precious metals for bracelets worn in India! We do seem to be able to fight wars in way off places and may need better minerals for more efficient weapons? Who is McGuinty trying to fool? We need mental resources to build better methods of saving energy and resources!

Justice Needed for Bloodshed in Syria: Houla's horror | The Economist

We cry for those that are horribly caught up in this civil war! Now the international community will act and Russian arms destined for Syria are an embarrassment to humanity! Who is complicit in such atrocities is also guilty of massacre! Supplying arms to a bloody regime is a criminal act perpetrated by governments authorising sales of arms. Members of the Security Council of the UN guilty of supporting massacres should lose their seats until their guilty leaders are brought to justice! Why should the world watch Russia lead the universe into a new holocaust? Time for Eussia to step down because they support a regime killing children openly.... Why on earth??????????

Celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada - thestar.com

I guess it's because the Queen sets very high standards that make most of us shudder! Elizabeth is a post war sovereign that has lived through a period of relative peace. We all want peacemaking to succeed anf the better sides of our complex brains to govern!

Canadian Prime Minister is Incompetent .... Let's finally face the truth about his mismanagement of Canadian interests!

We should recognise that not all elected people are good for the country especially when all that talks is spending money telling others they are not good for the country. It's time Harper stepped down to let competetence take over, an end to silliness from Harper's moronic advisers please!

Incompetent Leadership or What? Canada's Harper is sliding away as NDP leadership demonstrates competence in complex world

I have always thought Canada's Harper somewhat incompetent and his lack of abilities in management of Canadian technical, social and economic needs has been glaring to most Canadians who want to be proud of the country and can't stand progress by luck rather than brains! Time to make way to better and improved leadership from Quebec and the NDP slate, perhaps, as Harper fails the many tests needed to govern competently the Canadian scene. I for one won't miss the Yankee doodling approach which reminds me too much of George Bush!

Sadoway’s MIT Liquid Metal Battery Startup Adds $15M and Khosla Ventures as Investor : Greentech Media

Think what it would be like to escape the grid. Your little windmill would power all the home needs and even charge your car. `Prince of piffle' or `philosopher prince'? Once ridiculed, some now hail Charles as visionary

Elizabeth May: A devastating first year of Conservative majority rule in Canada | Vancouver, Canada | Straight.com

World wide the shift towards intollerance is gaining ground! In the past few days I have witnessed signs of Europe sliding into a new facism ethic that should remind us that just below the semblance of outward tolerance and stability lurks a monster willing to blast sanity into smithereens and stab at the heart of cooperative diversity. Europe is at a tipping point.

Never, before in mankind's history has there been a more dangerous period with respected muslim religious leaders openly and seriously spouting doctrines of genocide and those being targeted openly stating they are ready to unleash nuclear war on a scale never before contemplated as a serious proposition. Depopulation of planet earth as seriously proposed by some Russian leaders is mistakenly seen as a good policy arising from irrationality that spawns novel forms of individual efforts of sustaining fascism as a credible path of change as witnessed recently in Britain and Norway. We need to be aware that tipping points towards irrational and sickening violence are only too easily reached in a world ever more closely connected.

G8 summit: Stephen Harper says free trade an alternative to austerity, cutbacks | News | National Post

Free trade is not a short term policy tactic. If Canada and Europe engage in free trade it brings along economies of scale issues that America would have to address. It might, however, bring employment to low wage regions!

Economies of scale helps large firms by reducing the number of separate plants to produce a given product. Where would these fewer plants be located? Migration of production from China?

The Most-Effective, Quickest Way To Create More U.S. Jobs - International Business Times

I am a Schumpeterian not a Keynesian economist, but what are the rest?

In economic policy, timing and scale is everything, but so is the design of the policy mix and a sound understanding of industrial demand dynamics and employment structure. Building houses, for example may produce growth, but it has just produced debt and inflation when demand -lomg term - was unsustainable and it produced an unsustainable economic dynamic. Income distribution towards building up average incomes without inflation is part of this benign design.

Krugman is absolutely right! But, why should this be a surprise? Too many crap economic policies have dulled the professions's understanding of the basics. Fortunately, Krugman is not among those that do not understand very simple economics. Perhaps, we need to take away a few economics PhD's from the others? Or, do they try to push median incomes into the ground and to create unemployment.

Krugman: Speaker Boehner, Paul Ryan ‘completely deluded’ - Video on msnbc.com

Over investment is still an issue and indices need to be developed to distinguish patterns of excessive growth that puts ecnomies off their more natural long term sustainable path. Dangerous maybe, but that is what capitalism is all about ... making obsolescence of junk produced because of low technical producivity.

Paul Krugman / Apocalypse fairly soon: If the euro blows up, the extremists will rise - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Obama is clearly clued in! This makes a change and break from an overly narrow past in civil rights. If you are not gay, why do you have the right to judge! Falkland Islands claimed as 'Argentine soil' in secretly filmed Olympic advert | UK news | guardian.co.uk

Obviously, the cold war with Argentina is getting warmer! One has to wonder what the real impact is around the world as people are influenced this way or that to discriminate against another nationality because of a dispute over sovereignty based on location and opportunism! Flag waving by Argentina is not a solution. A solution is to make mining for oil irrelevant and to negotiate separate fair treaties with Argentna that protect rights of present residents in the Falklands.

Rupert Murdoch deemed 'not a fit person' to run international company | Media | The Guardian

So what does this really mean?

Does he not now have permission to control or run BSkyB, or is the Committee just another pressure group suggesting that other actions be taken to ensure he is denied the opportunity?

Perhaps, it's interesting that although the Committee cannot yet pin criminal charges on the man, he is nevertheless somewhat blacklisted!

Lack of unanimity is puzzling! Does it mean that moral standards vary depending on political leaning?
